On Print Runs and Prices and Shit...
Jeffrey just put something into perspective for me.

I bought a print run of my books (Small print runs) of my books in February/March and I'm sold out.

This is the best convention season I've ever had. I'm sold out of my run.. something I hadn't expected. 5 months is a quick turn around, but now I have a problem...

I have TWO shows left on the season roster and I don't have the stock to support the shows, nor do I have the money to get another small print run together. Even if I did, there is NO way that Ka-Blam would have the books to me in time for the 2nd show in two weeks.

I'm not sure what to do about this... I don't want to NOT have supplies for a show, but I can't justify a RUSH ORDER on these books as it would cut into my abysmally small profits.

What to do .. what to do...

not sure what size you're looking for but they'll get you your books in a week.

Take pre-orders. Set up an online store.

Your problem (which is a good problem to have) is one that seems to plague successful webcomics. You just have to figure out the flow and start setting aside $$.

If you can't get the books in time why not do pre orders and offer a sketch and signature in the ordered copy? A friend of mine in the exact same situation did that and it worked well for her.

When is the date of the second show that you'd need a restock by? I can forward you to my printer, but I believe four weeks is the minimum time needed for them.

I'm just going the route of preorders. It's less than 4 weeks.

Better to make less profit then to disapoint your fans and have nothing out there to maintian interest. People are becoming increasingly fickle. Next time bite the bullet spend the money and do a long run.
