On TNA video game...
Maybe some of my video game and wrestling friends out there can explain this to me:

Is TNA Impact slated to be GREAT.. or SUCK?

Apparently it is the prettiest wrestling game to date. Fine.
It has a limited CW and limited Multi-player. Fine.

All I give a shit about is storyline mode really...

BUT!

I can't find a single review of this game, which if this was a hollywood blockbuster, would mean it's probably written by M Nigh Shamalan - ZING! - But the fact that Midway hasn't sent out review copies at all, and the game is due out next week seems a bit telling to me as well.

Any one got an inside track on it?

I haven't played any wrestling games for a long time now. Mostly because the create a wrestler function sucked on all of them. But Acclaim did some of the worst wrestling games in history; WWF War Zone, WWF Attitude, and ECW Hardcore Revolution. Maybe they know what they are doing these days but I'm thinking it's going to suck. I always preferred the THQ games. One thing is that the characters will most likely have better move sets.

Where I tend to agree - I have relented to the fact that I'm not the core audience for these games. I want a storyline mode where I feel that I've gone the Rocky story up to champion.. maybe a few wacky angles in between, but over all I just want a fun game.

I don't even LIKE multi-player and that's what half these games base their sales on. Maybe for an afternoon with some friends, but not as the key selling point for me.

The CAW's have gotten MUCH better over the last few Smackdown/Raw games - but even if I can find a good storyline game with a midline CAW.. I'd be fine.

Basically, I want a wrestling RPG. Seems natural enough TO ME...

yeah I never really enjoyed the multiplayer much either. However, their was a wrestling game put out by THQ in japan for the 64 that was just a blast when you and friend did the battle royal mode. Can't remember what the name of the game was. But I mostly enjoyed the storyline modes over multi player.

Do you normally play as an actual wrestler or do you create one? I tell you I don't think I've ever had as much fun as the time I made Hulk Hogan tap out as myself in the game.

I tend to actually create the same wrestler. I guess it's a wrestling idealized version of me. Always the same finisher - the crucifix powerbomb or the von erich claw...

So where I like the CAW - if I have to choose my fav wrestler out of the mix instead, I'll do it.

LOL...where did I get the idea this was an Acclaim game? Could have sworn it was. What the hell am I thinking about?

It's Midway - so that doesn't bode exceptionally well either. They did give us 'Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game'

Based on the Q&A IGN did with the programmers, the game seems to be VERY bare-bones as far as options go ... less than 30 wrestlers, 120 or so moves total, the story mode is for CAWs only (no being Shark Boy and taking him to the championship), and there's all of maybe 6 match options (the standards -- singles, tag, triple threat, fatal four way, battle royal -- and Ultimate X; I haven't seen a damned thing on Six Sides Of Steel, Lethal Lockdown, Elevation X, King Of The Mountain, Full Metal Mayhem or anything else). So ... I'm not holding out hope. Rent-before-buy is my plan of action here.

General word so far is that the game is bare-bones, missing moves, and generally in need of more time and/or a sequel to be worth playing.

Shame that there probably won't be one.

Just more worthwhile to keep updated on Fire Pro edit packs than anything else.

Yeah, cause if they can't squeeze out a decent game in over two years of development, what they need is more time.

or a sequel to be worth playing. Shame that there probably won't be one.

It's already in development. Saw a newsbit on 411's game section days ago.
